Bryant Hichwa
Bryant Hichwa is currently Professor of Physics and Astronomy at Sonoma State University and a recent recipient of the campus teaching award; he teaches classes in optics, digital photography and the “Physics of Music”. He has appeared as an invited guest on NPR’s Science Friday discussing the physics of musical instruments.

Bryant is a committed environmentalist. He is currently the President of the Board of Audubon Canyon Ranch; past president of Sonoma County's Madrone Audubon Society and a member of the Board of Directors of the Fairfield Osborn Preserve and National Audubon’s Mayacamas Mountain Sanctuary.

Bryant is an avid birdwatcher and nature photographer. He and his wife Diane travel the world observing the wonders of the natural world. Their travels have taken them to Africa where they visited the mountain gorillas of Rwanda as well as the many national parks in Kenya and southern Africa in Namibia, Botswana, Zambia and South Africa. Other travel destinations include New Zealand, Australia, Costa Rica and Belize. In addition, they have traveled the length of Alaska from the tundra of Prudhoe Bay to the glacier bays of Prince William Sound.

 As part of these travel adventures Bryant and Diane share their knowledge and environmental message with audiences throughout the western United States. In addition, Bryant enjoys working one on one with various levels of nature photographers to develop their digital photographic techniques.
